A precipitation reaction refers to the formation of an insoluble salt when two solutions containing soluble salts are combined. The insoluble salt that falls out of solution is known as the precipitate, hence the reaction's name. Precipitation reactions can help determine the presence of various ions in solution.

\textbf{Precipation Reaction :}The Insoluble substance or salt formed during any chemical reaction is known as Precipate. Any chemical reaction producing Precipate can be called Precipation reaction.

Double-displacment reactions are often Precipation reaction as the generally forms Precipate.

Example :

Na_{2}SO_{4} + BaCl_{2} \xrightarrow{} 2NaCl + BaSO_{4}

Here, Sodium sulphate ( Na_{2}SO_{4} ) reacts with Barium Chloride ( BaCl_{2} ) to form insoluble Precipate ( BaSO_{4} ).
