Perennial canals are those canals that have water either from rivers or from artificial lakes. They have water almost throughout the year. They are found in the Northern plains, South India and Central India. But they are mainly found in the Coastal regions.Eg - The Bhakra Canal, The Eastern Yamuna Canal, The Indira Gandhi Canal (Rajasthan) etc.

Perennial canals are lined to dams and barrages to provide water throughout the year, and they irrigate a vast area.
