What is periodic trend in the variation of valency while going down a group?explain your answer with refrence to group 1,group 2 and group 18

valency remains same down a group. Group one elements possess the same valency throughout. Eg. Na and K. Similarly, group 2( valency 2. Eg. Mg) and group 18 ( valency 8) inert
