While going down the group atomic number grows on increasing and the new shell gets added everytime this causes rise in atomic radius while going down the group
Group 1 Group2
H Be
Li Mg
Na
Ca
From this it can also be said that going down the group electopositivity increases and element tend to lose electron faster
Group 1 Group2

Valency remains the same but the atomic size increasses due to increase in no. of orbits
Group 1:-
number of valence electrons that is 1 remains the same but no. of shell increases
Group 2:-
number of valence electrons that is 2 remains the same but no. of shell increases
Group 3:-
number of valence electrons that is 3 remains the same but no. of shell increases
Hence, there is variation only in atomic size nothing else..
