Explanation:

In the context of chemistry and the periodic table, periodicity refers to trends or recurring variations in element properties with increasing atomic number. Periodicity is caused by regular and predictable variations in element atomic structure.

Answer:

What is periodicity?

The modern periodic table is based on the electronic configuration of the elements. When elements are placed in the order of their increasing atomic number, the electronic configuration of the valence shell of the elements is repeated in such a way that elements having the same valence shell electrons fall under the same group. Since the number of valence shell electrons is the same they show similar properties.

The properties which are directly or indirectly related to their electronic configuration and which show a regular gradation when we move from left to right in a period or from top to bottom in a group are called periodic properties.
