Answer:

Peristalsis is the rhythmic movement of oesophagus (foodpipe) ,which allow the bolus (partially directed food) to reach the stomach.

Mechanical:

When we take in Food, it is mixed with our saliva with the help of our tongue and masticated (chewed) with our teeth.. Then the Peristaltic movement help that mixture to reach our stomach.

Chemical:

Our saliva contains sugar digesting enzymes, with break the sugar into simpler form and digest it. This partially digested food in our mouth is called Bolus. Then on reaching our stomach it is mixed with three gastric juices, namely, HCl, pepsin and mucus .

Answer:

Peristalsis refers to the process by which the food is transported from the buccal cavity to the stomach with the help of the expansion and contraction of the muscles present in the oesophagus. After the peristaltic movement in the oesophagus, food particles move down the oesophagus and reach the stomach.

when food releases mouth, it enters food pipe through which it travels in the form of bolus structure..(like a shape of ball or simply spherical sahpe) and this movement is called peristalsis movement

in mouth the food is broken down into smaller parts by teeth and it is softened by salivary amylase an enzyme secreted by saliva..
