A personal digital assistant (PDA), also known as a handheld PC,[1][2] is a variety mobile device which functions as a personal information manager. PDAs were largely discontinued in the early 2010s after the widespread adoption of highly capable smartphones, in particular those based on iOS and Android.

At the time when Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) with the Palm OS were popular they seemed to be pretty awesome. They didn't have many functions but they compared well with what people were using in those days -- paper organizers that combined a calendar, address book and notebook in one binder.
