what is pH scale?

pH scale used to specify the acidity or basicity of an aqueous solution. Lower pH values correspond to solutions which are more acidic in nature, while higher values correspond to solutions which are more basic or alkaline. At room temperature, pure water is neutral and has a pH of 7.

pH is reported in "logarithmic units"

pH of acid, base and salt.

The pH scale is often said to range from 0 to 14, and most solutions do fall within this range, although it's possible to get a pH below 0 or above 14. Anything below 7.0 is acidic, and anything above 7.0 is alkaline, or basic.

so , what is pH of salt ?

Salts are the products of any neutralization reaction.

It happens basically three types like

1.Reaction between Strong acid and Strong Base.

2.Reaction between Strong base and Weak acid.

3.reaction between Strong acid and weak base.

On the basis the these reactions salts are of three types.

1.Neutral salts: These are the salts whose PH is exactly equal to 7.

for ex : NaOH +HCL → NaCl + H20

Here NaCl is a Neutral base, and hence the PH is equal to 7.

2.Acidic salts → These salts have PH less than 7.

3.Basic salts → These salts have PH more than 7.

Answer:

pH is a measure of how acidic/basic water is. The range goes from 0 - 14, with 7 being neutral. pHs of less than 7 indicate acidity, whereas a pH of greater than 7 indicates a base.
