pH is a figure expressing the acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a logarithmic scale on which 7 is neutral, lower values are more acid and higher values more alkaline.

Its important to know what is pH because we can differentiate what is base and an acid by measuring its pH and determine its strength(whether strong or weak)

In pH scale ,we have numbers from 1-14 where 7 is neutral and below 7 is acid and above 7 is a base

based on the colour of the pH paper we can determine the given compound as acid or base

pH scale =it ia a scale used to measure the acidity or basicity of a substance

Importance

pH and plants=plants cannot grow in too much acidic or too alkaline soil .therefore for proper cultivation of crops it is necessary to have knowledge of ph of soil

2.ph and digestive system =our stomach release HCl . during indigestion the stomach produce much acids .to get rid of pain we have to knowledge of ph

3 ph and tooth decay=the lower ph of mouth creates an optimal environment for bad Bacteria
