The waxing gibbous phase occurs between the first quarter and full moon phases. A full moon is when we can see the entire lit portion of the Moon. The full moon phase occurs when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun, called opposition. A lunar eclipse can only happen at full moon....

“phases of moon” term is represents the visibility of moon . Moon is spherical in shape and we see the the full moon once in month and there is also no moon once in month , i.e moon is not visible to us. From full moon night to no moon night , in between this moon changes its shape and its start disappearing day by day and then there is once in month when there is no visibilty of moon in the sky.
