Answer:

Review Throughout its evolution, mankind has shown a tendency to believe in phenomena that could not be explained nor proven at that time. In the 21st century things have not evolved too much in this direction; this tendency to believe in something whose certainty could not be scientifically proven still exists. The fact that this phenomenon catches up with the masses can be ascertained by simply reviewing the volume of non-scientific information that abounds in the online environment and the media. And yet, why do people believe in lucky numbers, horoscopes, the existence of ghosts or spirits and other kinds of paranormal phenomena? This type of behavior can have different bases and causes such as: socio-cultural influences, religious bases but also medical, neuroscientific and mental explanations. How does the scientific literature explain certain personal experiences of "seeing" ghosts, "feeling" the presence of the spirits of the dead? What is the basis of this type of belief that generates certain behaviors? What could be the explanation for these behaviors? Is there a neuropsychological or neurological basis that predisposes to such behavior? What kind of implications might such beliefs and behavior have for someone who practice psychology?
