Photo electric effect:- Einstin used Quanatisation of energy from Planks quantum theory in order to explain photo electric effect. It is defined as emission of electrons due to the striking of light radiation on metal surface.

The minimum frequency with which the electron which is ejected is known as thesh hold frequency.

Indicated with symbol 'W'

The light radiation with frequency greater than thresh hold frequency strikes metal surface electron is emitted out and uses the excess energy to increase it's speed.( K.E) Kinetic Energy.

The phenomenon of ejection of electron from a metal surface, when light of suitable high frequency falls upon it is known as photoelectric effect . The electrons so emitted were called photo electron.
