Photoelectric effect:

✔️It is the phenomenon of emission of electrons from the surface of certain photosynthesis materials when light waves with particular frequency and sufficient energy fall on them.

✔️Consider a photon of light frequency ν incident on a photosensitive metal surface. The energy of the photon (= hν) can be used in two ways:

1️⃣ To liberate the electron from the metal surface (Φ= Work function)

2️⃣ The rest of the energy of the photon is used in imparting the maximum kinetic energy kmax to the emitted photoelectrons.

☺️It was first observed by Heinrich Hertz. Visible light produces photoelectric effect on alkali metals.

➡PHOTO ELECTRIC EFFECT : it deals with the ejection of electrons from the surface of a neutral gaseous atom when light of suitable frequencies strike on its surface .

➡It is Inversely proportional to the Ionization Enthalp y.

⏪Observations of photo electric Effect :

➡The electron are ejected from the surface as soon as light strikes on its surface .

➡for every metal , a minimum frequency called Thresh Hold frequency is needed to eject the electrons .

➡The energy of ejected electrons is directly proportional to the energy of incident radiations.
