Photosynthesis:-

The process by which autotrophs take in substances from the outside ( in the form of Carbondioxide and water ) and convert them into stored forms of energy ( Carbohydrates) in the pressence of sunlight and chlorophyll.

Note:

Carbohydrates are utilized for providing energy to the plant . The Carbohydrates which are not used immediately are stored in the form of starch , which serves as the internal energy reserve to be used as and when required by the plant.

The following events takes place during photosynthesis:-

Absorption of light energy ( by chlorophyll)

Splitting of water molecules into Hydrogen and oxygen ( photolysis of water ).

Conversion of lighy energy to chemical energy ( im the from of ATP and NADPH).

Reduction of CO2 to Carbohydrates ( assimilation of carbon )
