Photosynthesis :

  • The process by which plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight, carbon-dioxide(CO2) present in air, water(H2O), minerals and chlorophyll present in leaves is termed as photosynthesis .

Different stages in photosynthesis :

  1. Absorption of light,
  2. Electron transport leading to the reduction of NADP+ to NADPH,
  3. Generation of ATP ,
  4. Conversion of CO2 into carbohydrates (carbon fixation).

Primary function of photosynthesis :

  1. To convert solar energy into chemical energy and then store that chemical energy for future use .
  2. For the most part, the planet's living systems are powered by this process .
