Pigeon eggs take 18/19 days to hatch with both parents incubating the eggs. Young dependant pigeons are commonly known as 'squabs'. Both parents feed the young with a special 'pigeon milk' that is regurgitated and fed to the squabs.

Pigeons build a flimsy platform nest of straw and sticks, put on ledge, under cover, often located on the window ledges of buildings. Eight to 12 days after mating, the females lay 1 to 3 (usually 2) white eggswhich hatch after 18 days.
