Structure of placenta

1) it is hard disc like structure embedded in the uterine wall.

2) it has Villi on embryo side and blood filled spaces on mother side surrounded by villi.

Functions of placenta

1) it provides a large surface area for absorption of glucose and oxygen from Mother blood to embryo.

2) it also takes away waste generated by embryo into mother's blood.

The embryo gets nutrition from the mother's blood with the help of a special tissue called placenta.

The functions of placenta are :-

1)It provides a large surface area for glucose and oxygen to pass from the mother to the embryo.

2)The wastes from developing embryo are removed to mother's blood through placenta.
