placenta:it is a special tissue that develops for the nourishment of growing embryo
it's disc shaped structure embedded in the wall of uterus
it contains villi on the embryo side
and surrounded by blood spaces on the mother's side

placenta is a disc shaped tissue. The embryo gets nourishment from the placenta.
It contains villi on the embryo 'S side .
This provides a large surface area for glucose and oxygen to pass from the mother to the embryo.
