Placenta is a tissue formed by the cells from the embryo and the mother. It is formed at around 12 weeks of pregnancy and becomes an important structure for nourishment of the embryo

Placenta is fhe point of attachment of the foetus with the mother

Placenta contains the blood cappilaries of foetus which helps in the exchange of respiratory gases nutrients nitrogenous wastesetc between mother's blood and foetal blood.
