What is placenta?state its function in human females


nandini333: placenta is a disc like structure which is embedded in the uterine wall . functions-(1) it provides a large surface area for glucose and oxygen to pass from mothers blood to developing embryo (2) the waste generated by the embryo also gets removed by trasferring it to the mothers blood through placenta

Placenta is a sac - like structure which protects the offspring in the human female body and also provides nourishment to it . This also helps in the release of waste materials and gas exchange . It provides nourishment through the Umbical Cord which is joint to the belly button of the offspring.
