The placenta is an organ, it develops in the uterus at the time of pregnancy. The three functions of the placenta are:-
- This organ helps in providing proper oxygen and important nutrients to a growing baby. It also helps in removing the impurities from the blood of a baby.
- It is attached to the wall of the uterus and the umbilical cord of the baby arises with the help of this.
- It also produces some important hormones like lactogen, estrogen, and progesterone and these all hormones are very important elements for mother and baby. It helps to keep the baby healthy and alive.
