placenta is disc like embedded in the uterine wall . It contains villi on embryo side of the tissue and blood space on mother's side, which surround the villi. It provides large surface area for exchange of glucose and oxygen . The waste substance developed by embryo is removed by placenta by transferring them to mother's blood .
