PLACNK'S QUANTUM THEORY

Max Planck observed that when different solids are heated to same temperature they glow and emit different type of radiations. Max Planck assigned and observations to the osciallation or vibration of the atoms of that material with a different and definite frequency . To explain this Planck put forward a theory known as Planck, s quantum theory.

there are many points

1) substance radiate or absorb energy discontinuously in the form of small packets or bundles of energy.

2) the smallest packet of energy is called quantum . in Case of light the quantum is Known as photon.

♠ ANSWER :

⏺️PLANCK'S QUANTUM THEORY OF RADIATION:
_______________________________

All electromagnetic radiations are forms of energy. Our body can feel the heat of sunlight and that is why we avoid the sunlight during the summer and welcome it during the winter. The electromagnetic wave theory believed in continuous generation of radiant energy, i.e, the energy may be emitted or absorbed in any value from infinitely small to infinitely large. However, this theory could not explain the experimental results of many phenomena such as BLACK BODY RADIATION and PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT. At the beginning of the twentieth century MAX PLANCK in 1901, gave a new revolutionary theory known as QUANTUM THEORY OF RADIATION.

PLANCK 'S QUANTUM THEORY states that radiant energy is not emitted continuously but discontinuously in the form of small packet' s of energy called QUANTUM or PHOTON ( for light ), each having energy = hv.
