The plasma membrane of a cell has a chain of lipids and proteins that forms the boundary or barrier between a cell’s contents and the outside of the cell. It is also commonly called the cell membrane. The major or particular function or action  of the plasma membrane is to protect, secure and support the cell from its surrounding and neighbouring environment and climate It is semi-permeable. it regulates and controls the materials that enter and exit the cell. The cells of all living things have plasma membranes.
