All cells are surrounded by a plasma membrane. The membrane is composed of a phospholipid bilayer arranged back-to-back. The membraneis also covered in places with cholesterol molecules and proteins. The plasma membrane is selectively permeable and regulates which molecules are allowed to enter and exit the cell.

It is a membrane that gives shape and protection to the cells. It is made of bi-layer lipids which means 2 layers of liquid fats. They also control what goes in and what goes out of the cell like oxygen, carbon dioxide, water, etc.
