Explanation:
The plasma membrane is called selectively permeable membrane because as it permits the movement of only certain molecules in and out of the cells. Not all molecules are free to diffuse of plasma membrane ruptures or breakdown the molecule of some substances will freely move in and out of the cells .It allows hydrophobic molecule and small polar molecules diffus through the lipid layer ,but does not allow ions and large polar molecules can not diffuse through the membrane.
