  • Plasmodesmata are membrane channels that are coaxial that cross walls of plant cells. They link the cytoplasm, plasma membranes, and endoplasmic reticulum of cells. They allow direct communication of cytoplasmic cell-to-cell of both small molecules and macromolecules.
