Plasmolysis- If a plant cell is placed in a hypertonic solution then water molecule diffuses out from the Cell. As a result exosmosis the protoplast of the cell is detached from the cell wall and starts shrinking. This is called plasmolysis.

•The process of plasmolysis is usually reversible.
