What is plasmolysis? Explain with example

Plasmolysis is the process in which the cell lose water in hypertonic solution.
example: red blood cells shrink when placed in salt solution

Whenever a cell is placed in a highly concentrated solution(hypertonic solution) ,then due to difference in concentraion of fluids ,water flows from the higher concentration to lower concetration,as a result the cell membrane shrinks away frim the cell wall,such a cell is called plasmolysed cell and process is called plasmolysis.
