The rupture of the cell due to contraction when placed in a hypertonic solution is called PLASMOLYSIS. It generally occurs in plant cells.

Plasmolysis is a stage in which the cell contracts and cell wall come near the nucleus of the cell.
Its another name is flaccidity.
