when a living plant cell loses its water through Osmosis then there is a shrinkage of the contents of the cell... this process is known as plasmolysis. they do not burst when placed in dilute solution because of cell wall.. the wall exerts an equal pressure against the swollen cell.

when there is a shrinkage in th3 living plant cell because of osmosis it is known as plasmolysis. The plant cell donot burst because there is cell wall around the cell membrane which exerts sme pressure so that the cell won't burst .....
