plaster of paris is obtained by adding water to gypsum , the chemical eq is -
CaSO4.1/2H2O + 1+1/2 H2O -> CaSO4.2H20
when it is thermal decomposed it breaks into gypsum and water molecule
CaSO4.2H2O + heat -> CaSO4.1/2H2O+ H20^
(plaster of paris)(aq) (gypsum) (gas)
