Plateau is a flat table land, reasonably high with steep slopes on one or more sides.

Storehouse of minerals: The plateaus are famous for minerals. The plateau of France, the Deccan plateau of India, Western Australian plateau and Brazilian plateau are very good sources of minerals. Iron, copper, gold, diamonds, Manganese, coal, etc., are found in them. Hydel power: Rivers falling down the edges of plateaus from water-falls. These water-falls provide ideal sites for generating hydel-power. on climate: The higher parts of the plateaus even in tropical and sub-rearing regions have cool climate. Hence, they have attracted Europeans to settle there and develop their economy e.g. South and East Africa.
