A plebiscite or referendum is a type of voting, or of proposing laws. Some definitions of 'plebiscite' suggest that it is a type of vote to change the constitution or government of a country. ... Advisory - meaning the result of the vote is only to help the government make the final choice

AndyStark: ur ordering me to do so ??
DSC007: Vishal just to add few things....often people take referendum and plebiscite as same thing ( maybe its because newspapers often use th interchangeably, but there is a basic difference between them. Plebiscite is often conducted to get people's opinion regarding secession or accession to a country or part thereof, and hence is more like a voting to decide a separate nation or state, like the one happened in Catalonia, Spain...
DSC007: ...While referendum is a condition where government of a state, by means of voting, ask for people's opinion regarding any matter that demands such opinion or consent, like the one recently held in abortion case in Ireland.....Hope it helps
AndyStark: thanks
DSC007: My pleasure, Andy.
