Answer:

Polchinski paradox is basically grandfather paradox with extra steps.

So basically in grandfather paradox

You build a time machine that can go back and forth in time. You go back in time when your grandfather was still a child and you kill him. Therefore, as your grandfather is dead your father didn't get born which means you don't exist. If you don't exist, then there was no one to kill your grandfather so he is alive, as a result your father is alive and so you are alive. As you are alive you go and kill your grandfather. This loop continues forever. As time travel in this given format is not possible, this paradox cannot happen.

If time travel into the past were to be possible then you still won't be able to interact with your exact past, it will just be a copy of your past existing as a different timelime. when you kill your grandfather, a new universe is created (t2) where you your grandfather is dead and you and your father don't exist. This universe is not a physical universe ofcourse it's an example of Hilbert space. T2 won't be able to interact with t1 and thus no paradox

Now the polchinski paradox is

if you sent a billiard ball through the wormhole into the past such that it collides with its previous self, deflecting it so that it never enters the wormhole in the first place.

The simple solution to this paradox is that worm holes don't allow time travel into the past. They are just short cuts in space. If it did allow then the same solution of grandfather's paradox will be applicable to the polchinski's paradox.
