It is a social movement in the area of politics. A “ political movement may be organised around a single issue or set of issues or around a set of shared concerns of a social group. It aims : to convince citizens or government to take action on the issues which are the focus of the movements.
Examples of Different Types Political Movements
Most of the movements are issue-specific movements that seek to achieve a single objective within a limited time frame. For example, Narmada Bachao Andolan.
Others are more general or generic movements . that seek to achieve a broad goal in the very long-term. For example, Environmental Movement and Women’s Movement. Again a political movement may be local, regional, national or international in scope. For example, Women’s Suffrage Movement, Civil Rights Movement, Gay Rights Movement, Anti-Globalisation Movement, etc.
