⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⛄ \large{\underline{\mathfrak{Pollination}}}

When the athers are mature, they rupture and burst open and release pollen grains. The pollen grains are light so they are carried away by agents such as wind, water, insects and animals. They land on the stigma of that same flower or maybe on other flower. This transfer of pollen grains from an ather to a stigma is called pollination.

Pollination is of two types :-

  • i) Self pollination
  • ii) Cross pollination

Self Pollination

In this type of process, the transfer of pollen grains takes place from anther to stigma of the same flower.

Cross pollination

In this type of process, the pollen grains are transfered from anther to stigma of a flower on the same plant or on the stigma of flower on another plant.
