Pollination:-

Pollination is defined as the process of transportation of pollen grains (reproductive cells) from the male anther to the female stigma of the same or different flower.

Types of pollination:-

There are two types of pollination.

1) Self Pollination

2) Cross-Pollination.

  • Self Pollination:- when pollen grains transfer from the male anther to the female stigma of the same flower, it is called Self Pollination.

  • Cross-Pollination:- when pollen grains transfer from the male anther of one flower to the female stigma of a different flower, it is called Cross-Pollination.

Pollen grains cannot move by themselves. They must depend on an outside source for help.

Flowers adapted to pollination by different methods such as wind, insects, birds, water, etc.
