Terrycot is a fabric made up of terylene (also called polyester) and cotton. Terylene is a popular form of polyester, which can be drawn into very fine fibres. Cotton is a soft, fluffy staple fibre that grows in a ball or protective capsule around the seeds of cotton plants.

Terry is a fabric with loops that can absorb large amounts of water, while terrycot is a very soft fibre.
