Polyembryony :

• The phenomenon of two or more than two embryos developed from a single fertilized egg is said to be as Polyembryony

Causes :

• It causes due to the fertilisation of embryos resulted from the same fertilized egg, the embryos are identical to one another but are genetically diverse from their parents.

• This natural phenomenon was first discovered in the year 1719 by Anton Van Leuwenhoek in Citrus plant seeds.

Example :

• It happens in regular interval in the nine-banded armadillo,which usually gives birth to four identical young.

• It is a medium-sized mammal found in few parts of America and this wild species gives birth to identical quadruplets.
