population density refers to the no. of people living in an area per sq. km

it differ from population distribution because people prefer to live in planes and valleys rather than mountains and plateaus .so, the place will have more density where people live more than that of the mountains where less people live

population distribution population density just represent the average number of individual per unit area or volume of an individuals in a population are not spread out evenly is treat them a live in clumps or some other pattern.
