1. It is an increase in population during a specific period of time.

2. It takes place when birth rate is higher than the death rate.

Population changes can be expressed in two ways-

1. Birth rate- It is the number of live births per 1000 persons in a year. It increases the population.

2. Death rate- It is the number of deaths per 1000 persons in a year. It decreases the population.
