The Water treatment plant:-

There are certain steps involved in water treatment plant. It makes the water fit and fine for consumption by cleaning impurities and by killing disease causing microorganisms.

Sedimentation tank:- In sedimentation tank water is made to stand for a day. The insoluble impurities are settled down at the bottom of the tank. Some impurities which are lighter in weight flow on water.

Loading tank:- In loading tank some suspended impurities settle down faster by adding some of the chemicals in the tank like alum.

Filtration tank:- The water is passed to the filtration tank after loading tank. In this tank, water is made to be passed through the sand, gravel and charcoal, which extracts all the lighter impurities.

Chlorination tank:- After filtration tank water is made to be passed through Chlorination tank. Chlorine is added to the water. Chlorine is used to kill all the disease causing microorganisms that are present in the water. Hence, this water is still not fit for drinking.

Storage tank:- Now after purification this water is fit for human consumption so, it is collected in a large storage tank. We get water from these tanks through our pipes.
