Answer:

What is Correlation?

  • Correlation means attempt to determine degree of relationship between different variables.

Types of Correlation:

  1. Positive correlation: When two variables moves in same direction and both are increasing or decreasing, then such a relation is called as positive correlation.
  2. Negative correlation: When two variables moves in opposite direction that is one is decreasing and other is increasing, then such a relation is called as negative correlation.
  3. Linear correlation: Linear correlation means when both variables changes in same ratio or constant ratio.
  4. Non linear correlation: Non linear correlation means ratio of change in both variables is not same or constant and one variable is increases in same ratio but other do not increases in same ratio.
  5. Simple Correlation: Simple correlation means when two variables are steady together.
  6. Multiple correlation: Multiple correlation means when  more than two variables are steady together.
  7. Partial correlation: Partial correlation means relation between two variables is tested keeping other variable as constant.
