Potential difference (V) is defined as the work done to move a unit charge from one end of the conductor to the other end.
The SI unit of Potential difference is Volts (V).
Simply understand the concept that electrons flow then current is produced and electrons move in a circuit only when there is a potential difference that is the potential of a point is higher than the potential at some other point and thus the free electrons move from a higher potential to a lower potential that is when there is a potential difference.
