What is potential difference? Answer with a suitable example...

Potential difference is the difference in the potential between the two terminals of the battery or any other current source connected in the circuit. For example if we say that we have a battery of 3volts then we mean to say that when this battery will be connect in the circuit then it will maintain a potential difference of 3volts across its terminals.
