potential energy is the energy possessed by a body due to its position or stored energy in it

btw u remember me??

Nikki57: No unnecessary comments here
groveransh: potential energy is the energy possessed by a body or an object by virtue of its position or its configuration (shape).
groveransh: it is a form of mechanical energy
Rosepreet1: ok byy
groveransh: its value is zero at a distance of infinity
groveransh: and its value is in negative at a finite distance
groveransh: it has 2 types - 1. Gravitational potential energy and 2. Elastic potential energy
Rosepreet1: bass kr goveransh
Rosepreet1: and thank uh also
groveransh: ur welcome

Hey!

Potential energy is the energy possessed by a body due to its position or configuration.

Examples of potential energy -:

• A lifted weight as it can do work when it falls down under the gravity.

• Water stored in reservoirs.

• A coiled spring.

• Compressed gas in a cylinder.

• A stretched bow.

SI unit of energy = J
Thus, SI unit of potential energy = J

Formula to find potential energy = mgh
Where,
m= mass
g= gravity
h= height
