Q. What is power and derive an expression of power in I and R terms.

Answer:-

Power :- The rate of dissipation of electrical energy is known as power.

We can write power has :-

\boxed{\sf{P = \dfrac{E}{T}}}

  • The SI unit of power is watt other unit used in daily life are kilowatts and horse power.

\boxed{\sf{ 1H.P = 746 watt}}

Derivation :-

Let I be the current and R be the resistance of wire.

Then, the heat energy produced in conductor in time t is :-

\boxed{\sf{ H = I^2RT}}

Since, heat is also a form of energy,

Since, heat is also a form of energy, so, H = E = i²R.T

By using formula of power,

 P = \dfrac{E}{T}

put the value of E in equation:-

P = \dfrac{I^2.R.T}{T}

P = I^2 .R

hence,we can express power in terms of I and R by P = I².R
