when a double displacement reaction take place, there is no white precipitate formed which is insoluble in water thus this is known as precipitation reaction. here is the example
AgNO3 + NaCl -----> AgCl + NaNo3

A reaction in which an insoluble solid called precipitate is formed that separates from the solution is called a precipitation reaction .

Example :- When a solution of iron (III)

chloride and ammonium hydroxide are

mixed , a brown precipitate of iron (III)

hydroxide is formed .
