The pressure exerted on a surface by an object increases as the weight of the object increases or the surface area of contact decreases. ... As such, pressure depends on the amount of gas (in number of molecules), its temperature, and the volume of the container.

Pressure :

Pressure is defined as Force per unit area surface is called pressure. It is the force which is applied perpendicular to the surface of an object per it's unit area.

Mathematically :

 \sf Pressure = \dfrac{Force}{Area}

 \sf P = \dfrac{F}{A}

Why do we need pressure?

Pressure is helpful for us in form of atmospheric pressure.

Atmospheric pressure is a force that is exerted on a surface by air above the surface as gravity pulls air towards Earth. It is an indicator of weather. When low-pressure system moves into an area, it creates clouds, wind, and leads to precipitation. High-pressure systems lead to pleasant weather.
